FAQ: EARLY-CAREER MENTORSHIP

What is the Early-Career Mentorship Programme?

This scheme is designed for BESEA individuals in the arts and media industries who would describe themselves as in their “early-career” and believe they would benefit from mentorship from an established BESEA creative practitioner in the same field. We want to provide mentorship that is specific to your skill set, goals, learning style and most importantly, someone who reflects your lived experience and can support you through any specific barriers you may face.

Am I eligible to be a mentee?

This is a professional development programme as opposed to entry-level. To be eligible to apply as a mentee, you must have graduated from an accredited training programme or have at least one professional credit. Our guideline is that you have worked in the industry for three years and under. This can look different for everyone though, so if you are outside the three year parameter but feel strongly that "early-career" best describes where you are at, we are more than happy to check your CV for eligibility before applying. Please email us at mentorship@risingwaves.org with subject "Mentee Eligibility".

Can I become a mentor?

We’re looking for BESEA creatives, artists, and technical professionals with at least five years of experience in their field to join us as mentors. If you’re passionate about supporting the next generation and can provide guidance to an early-career creative in your discipline, we’d love to hear from you. Mentors and mentees are matched based on skills, working styles, and lived experiences to ensure the best fit. We also provide mentorship training and ongoing support to make the experience rewarding for both parties. Applications for mentors will open in the coming weeks.
